Before you visitYou will be asked for details of any medications you may be taking, as well as all relevant medical conditions and surgery, so it may be helpful to remind yourself of these details before you visit.Dressing correctly for your visit will make your visit to the chiropodist more comfortable. Screens are available for removal of tights but wearing short stockings or socks for the visit will save time. Trousers or long skirts are also advised. If possible please bring a selection of footware with you. Your footwear is a mirror on your feet and an indication of how you walk. When you arriveWhen you arrive your chiropodist will take down some details such as name, age, address, telephone number, doctor and medical details. He will also ask you about your reasons for coming and what you feel is wrong with your feet. This information is totally confidential and necessary to help your chiropodist make valued medical judgemnts about your feet.After note-taking the chiropodist will give a full examination of your feet, discussing your complaint(s) with you. The examination will include skin texture, neuro-vascular condition, pulses, movement and bio-mechanical assessment. Nail condition, callous and corns will be noted and appropriate action discussed and agreed. Top of page |

TreatmentTreatment will be carried out with care and professional consideration. All actions will be explained and only proceeded with following your agreement.Treating childrenChildren need special care and consideration and toys and cartoon videos are on hand to provide distraction. The other children of the family are also welcome (we have a large toy box!). Treatment will be explained to the child where possible as well as the parent(s). Patience is paramount in the treatment of children and time is not hurried when dealing with them.PensionersSome pensioners will need special care such as removal of stockingettes (ladies) or stockings (men) and shoes. This will be done with the patients permission.Finishing the visitAt the end of the treatment a foot massage is given where appropriate with cream or oil. This revitalises the foot by improving circulation and skin elasticity. Finally, after payment the next appointment will be arranged (if appropriate) and an appointment card given to you.Top of page |
